I was reading about the judicial system and learned a bit about how things were meant to function. We are taught about the 3 equal branches of government but in reality the judicial system is set up to have less power than the legislative and executive branches. They all have checks and balances, but the power of the judicial branch is limited. This is at least partly due to the fact that the people do not elect them. They are appointed. They were not meant to have lifetime appointments or little accountability like they do today. They were able to keep their appointment based on good behavior. Some examples of reasons judges were removed in the early days were drunkenness at home or swearing in the courtroom. Seems strange in our day but also shows the intention was not lifetime. The judges need to be accountable and in good character. </span></span></p><span style="font-family: times;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: times;">Judicial is the weakest branch, controlled by the other two. They give opinions but cannot determine laws. It seems, functionally, today we treat the supreme court as a law maker and the final say in things. This was not the intended function nor it is best for America. The purpose of the supreme court is to give opinions on the constitutionality of the issue in question. Their rulings do not and should not determine laws. Laws can be made by congress based on a ruling but it is not a forgone conclusion of a ruling. Also, politics should not be in the equation at all. It’s not public opinion or political leanings that should determine rulings but black and white right or wrong in relation to the question, is it constitutional or not. A great book to read is “Original Intent” by David Barton. It does a great job of showing precedent and past rulings of the court which is also a picture of the intent of how the framers designed the founding documents.</span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: times;">In Lincoln’s day the Supreme Court basically said black people were property. Lincoln ignored that ruling and went forward to free the slaves with the 13th Ammendement. The Court’s opinion had no teeth.</span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: times;">The first time the Supreme Court used judicial review against congress was in 1857 claiming that blacks had no rights and were considered property. In 1820 Congress passed a law that eliminated slavery. This was part of the Missouri Compromise. Congress rightly ignored the supreme court and kept to the law passed in 1820.</span></span></p><span style="font-family: times;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: times;">In 1954 Brown v Board of Education stepped in and ended segregation. In reality it was just reversing its decision in 1882 supporting segregation. None of that was necessary because in 1875 Congress passed a law that banned segregation everywhere. Had this law been followed and enforced there would have been no need for Brown v Board of Education and they should have rightly ignored the court in 1882. It legally had no bearing.</span></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: times;">We have a modern version of this same scenario in Roe v. Wade. The original ruling in 1973 was unconstitutional as there was nothing in the constitution giving the right to abortion. The recent 2022 ruling simply reversed that ruling because it was wrong to start. Laws are made in congress not the courts.</span></span></p><span style="font-family: times;"><br /></span><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="background-color: white; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-family: times;">Somehow people have gotten the idea that the court needs to protect the minority. We accept rulings as law and force the majority to accept a minority rule. The majority actually protects the minority. The majority fought a war to free a minority-slaves. The majority voted to give voting rights to blacks. The majority voted to give voting rights to women. When the system works smaller groups are not forgotten. On the flip side some will force the minority opinions and views on everyone. When that happens society is upside down and the majority has to give up any rights and the minority rules. If you don’t get your way in the vote you just go find a judge on your side to make some ruling on that issue and force it. It’s been a slow crawl away from America’s founding principles. We have been the proverbial fog in the pot. In many things we have gone 180 from the original intent. You can trace back over the last century the picking away of true American history and slowly removing God from our governance. Yes I said our governance. Any rudimentary study of America's founding shows that faith was interwoven with much of what they did. Many religious leaders greatly influenced the writers of the founding documents as well as some of the founders were religious people. Much of the principles put forth in our constitution were based on teaching and morals from the Bible. Looking at the original intent as well as many rulings since shows this.The evidence can fill volumes. The congress held church services in the capital, sought counsel from religious leaders, opened congress in prayer and even paid for the first printing of the Bible in America to name just a few. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Prayer was an important part of writing the constitution. They were struggling to agree on points for the constitution. Ben Franklin, the oldest delegate, asked to address the convention. He reminded them of the Divine Protection they had witnessed in the struggle to break free from Britain. He reminded them that they had gone to prayer often during this struggle and that their prayers were answered. He said “I have lived, sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth: that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?” He implored that they seek the “assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in his assembly every morning before we proceed to business..” Their discussions changed after that. They began making progress, though it was slow, the process gained new life and a new focus. They worked together to form a form of government that has stood the test of time and has been a light and a beacon to the world ever since. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Slowly over time we have not passed on the truths and faith of our founding fathers and the true beginnings of our nation. America is truly an exceptional nation. The first of it’s kind. One where we acknowledge that our rights come from God and not the government. Opinions and information are squelched only because the powers that be don't like it. That goes against the very fabric of American values and freedoms. Those 56 men who would eventually sign the Declaration of Independence, agreed upon this day, risked their 'lives, fortunes and sacred honor' for a cause they felt worthy of fighting for. July 4th marked a significant shift in the paradigm. No longer would government be in charge of the people, but now the people would be in charge of their own destinies. The government they would eventually frame was unique and exceptional in all of history. The people would have the power.<br />

I'm sure part is due to a failed education system that has not accurately and adequately taught American history or civics. It concerns me that they will get what they want, which is to destroy America as she was founded and turn her into a socialist morally depraved country. They care little for the American people but for power and money and control. One of the many times in our history. As they say, we decided to go and we did. It's amazing what those men and women back in the 60's were able to accomplish. I can only imagine the awe and wonder of those who gazed at their little black and white TV screens watching this history making moment take place. Many risked their lives and some gave them in pursuit of this achievement. We landed a man on the moon. There were so many details and precision needed to make it work. Things that now seem common place and even old fashioned were cutting edge technology then. It was a great example of American ingenuity. Many times within the democratic socialist or progressive party, logic and common sense is completely defied. The latest example of this is the census issue. What on earth is wrong with asking if someone is a citizen on the census? It is not a new question on the census. It is an important distinction to ask. Only citizens can vote in elections, so it's important to know how many citizens there are. There are many residents of the United States who aren't citizens that are here legally and that's something good to keep track of as well. Illegal people are unlikely to fill out a census anyway.<br />
The only reason they would want to block this question is to make it easier for ILLEGAL aliens to vote and vote for them. Promising free everything is a destructive path but one they use to get as many people on their side.<br />
Immigrants need to come here legally. Our military, policeman and fireman all daily risk their lives for us still. So thank them ,whenever you see them, for their service.<br />

Hate is the theme of the liberals. Their reaction to everything is hate. Criticism and violence is the action of the day. There is such a visceral hate that people have lost all common sense. Because someone disagrees with them they feel the need to attack, slander and sometimes injure those that oppose them. I don't see that kind of behavior in conservatives. Speaking for myself, I do not hate those who have different beliefs, those who wholeheartedly accept the Clinton/Obama regime and the liberal media words as truth. What I do feel is sad and somewhat dumbfounded that they cannot see the lies, hypocrisy and illogical philosophy of socialism and communism. I don't understand people embracing socialism. It has never worked and will never work. The old saying that if you tell a big enough lie often enough people will believe it to be true. That is exactly what the liberals are doing.<br />
They have a world view that America is bad and must be taken down and reinvented. That could not be further from the truth. America is exceptional and a beacon for the world.<br />
They don't have anything they stand on other than get rid of Trump, conservatives are bad and on and on. Whatever they accuse conservatives of is generally what they are doing. Especially when it comes to the whole Russian collusion investigation. Nothing going on with Trump, but the democrats are deeply involved with the Russians and notably Hillary was involved. They constantly accuse others of racism, when the democratic party is the party of racism throughout history and present. Actions speak louder than words.<br />

Though this ground breaking document wasn't officially signed until August, today is the day that marked the beginning. America has a unique beginning and is an exceptional nation like no other. The Declaration of Independence is an amazing document, step of faith, step of defiance against tyranny, and the catalyst to this great nation.<br />
I'm so thankful for the sacrifices made to bring about our country. Founded on Biblical principles, America is unique in it's birth and it's philosophy. There's good reason to be proud to be an American. We have been a beacon of hope in the world and the land of opportunity.<br />
I love to see the patriotism that comes out on the Fourth of July. The songs, the flags, parades and fireworks are all part of celebration.<br />
I'm proud of our military; the best in the world. Without them where would we be? During the fireworks I like to close my eyes and try to put myself in the mindset of battle. I listen to the booms, whistles and cracks as if it is real. What must that feel like to put your life on the line for your country? Thank you to all who do that.<br />
America the great experiment, turned out pretty good I think. Americans, stay strong, stay true. Our constitution is worth fighting for.<br />

It's not from lack of thoughts about it, but more to keep myself from getting worked up about things I can't change. At this point, I feel like I can't keep quiet anymore.<br />
Top on the list of frustrations...immigration. So much false information is going about and people trying to get on the moral high ground by standing on false premises. People are in a tizzy about children being "ripped" from their mother's arms. Besides the fact that is not an accurate picture, there have been separations due to illegal immigration going on since the 90's, why the outcry only now? Hypocrisy abounds. It was actually worse then.<br />
We are a country of laws. If we don't enforce our laws we won't have a nation. The liberals want nothing short of open borders and will do and say whatever it takes to get it. We Can't have that. A country without borders is not a country. No country in the world can just let whoever and as many as want come into their country and survive. Americans who accidentally crossed a border to another country were put in prison, yet people flood into America and get free housing, schooling, welfare and the list goes on.<br />
If a parent commits a crime they are separated from their children, it doesn't matter their color their status or the crime. There is no racism involved. No one wants to put children in jail with a parent. Crossing the border illegally IS a Crime. Kids are sent alone, kids are used by non parent adults to sneak in contraband or used for the adult to get in and then discarded. If someone is truly in need of asylum then request it and come legally. Why are these people coming from Central America coming here? They have to travel through Mexico to get here, why are they not just seeking asylum in Mexico? and why is Mexico just letting them travel through when they arrest others coming into their country and throw them in jail? Comparing this to Nazi death camps is insulting to the Jews who suffered through that. Not even close to the same issue. The only fascists I see are the liberal democrats aka socialists.<br />
The security of our country is at stake. The evil elements are not above using children to to their dirty work. The media and the liberal element are using the children to advance their agenda. Liberal policies are an abject failure and we don't want it in America. It has No place in America. They need to get over the fact that they lost and America doesn't want it. They are filled with such blind hatred they can't see what end is up. They think they are the majority but they are not. The media is a driving force in presenting this but in reality liberalism is a mental disorder with no connection to reality. People need to wake up and get informed with the facts, not with the media fairy tails.<br />

For many it's just a long weekend and barbecues. We tend to loose focus on what this day stands for. So many who have come before us, gave up their lives so we could be free. The ultimate sacrifice. To coin a phrase....the few, the proud, the brave.<br />
I can't imagine the sacrifice those families have to deal with, first to send their loved one off, and then to not get them back. We have fought for our independence and to keep ourselves together. We have fought to rid the world of evils and protect the weak. Untold numbers over the years have served and given their all.<br />
So today we remember those we lost and show our thanks to all they gave. Want to get rid of racism? Stop putting people in groups. Stop pointing out that people are different to your children. Kids don't know the difference until you tell them. If you keep teaching your children that they are a victim because of their color or they are better because of their color, or should be ashamed of their race, we won't ever get rid of hate. Stop complaining that there are not an equal number of each race in a profession. There are not an equal number of each in society. If someone is the better candidate or student they should be the one to get the job or be accepted into a college regardless of race. To punish someone who is more qualified but not the right color, couldn't be more wrong. Each race has people that is successful and affluent. Each race has people that are struggling or unsuccessful. It has less to do with race and more to do with drive and opportunity. Those that work hard can succeed no matter their race or gender. That's part of the American Dream. The Opportunity to become all you can be, Not the guarantee. Which brings me to the asinine beliefs that those who come here ILLEGALLY are suddenly granted free healthcare, free college, basically a free ride; while many our own citizens struggle along without. If we don't respect our laws and our borders how can we be a country. We welcome those who come here through the right process. We need to stop with those who don't. It's not unreasonable to require vetting to be allowed in the country. There are plenty who want to come to America with evil intent and if our laws are not followed they will get in, and they will cause havoc. If they have nothing to hid than go through the process to come legally. I've read several accounts of those remembering a few decades ago when kids had guns in their pick up truck or in there home and kids were not out shooting people. There was a level of respect for guns and also a respect for human life. Over time this respect has gone away, especially for human life. God was taken from the schools. There is so much to say about the state of America. We keep finding out the corruption is deeper and higher than one would think possible. One of the frustrating aspects is the fact that a large segment of the population does not know the facts. All they get is a very biased and controlled version of reality. The level of deception of the previous administration and all the hold overs still stirring up trouble is crazy. I listen to the liberal media (as little as possible) and everything they are pointing fingers at is actually what they are doing. The democrats and media together have a bad case of narcissism. Their hatred for Trump and conservative ideals blinds them to the reality of all the good things that are happening in America. Even more could be happening if they would stop making up controversies and crimes that don't exist, wasting our time and not speaking the truth.<br />
Hopefully as the swamp is drained and more things come out they won't be able to hide behind the lies and deception that has become such a way of life. I fear they may actually believe it. They say that if you repeat something enough, people will believe it even if it's a bold face lie. Some of it is so far fetched it's hard to accept that a sane thinking person would believe it.<br />

I was reading an article today about the president saying Merry Christmas on the official White House Christmas card. Of course the internet lit up with offended people complaining about it. It is truly tiring. For the last 2 centuries Americans have been saying Merry Christmas without complaint. It's a sign of the times I guess, where no one can speak freely unless you speak "politically correct." America is a Christian nation and there shouldn't be an issue if we act like it. We say Merry Christmas because it is Christmas, a day we celebrate the birth of Jesus. In it's most general greeting it is still a wish for peace and good will to whoever you are saying it to, whether they believe in the true meaning of Christmas or not.<br />
The people I know, say Merry Christmas. I work with someone who is Jewish who has no problem with people saying Merry Christmas or even saying Merry Christmas to others. As well as I have no issue to say Happy Hanukkah.<br />
Let's get back to Merry Christmas and the meaning of the season and stop expecting everyone to cater to everyone's offenses. To do that we'd all have to stop talking. In America we have the freedom to speak but not to muzzle those we don't agree with.<br />

Deception in the media is high. The sad part is the declining education. Kids are not taught about American ideals and founding. Even so, it does seem patriotism, love and respect for America has declined. I don't think kids are being taught love of country or given an understanding of our founding and exceptionalism. We are truly unique in the world and future American generations need to be be taught about it or we will loose what we've built.<br />
One thing I miss from growing up is when the anthem was played at ballgames. Then, it wasn't just played and people stand, the whole crowd would proudly sing along. It wasn't so much a performance by someone as it was a community together honoring America and the freedoms we enjoy. I wish that tradition would start up again. The situation that inspired the anthem is nothing short of inspiring. The strength those soldiers had to hold out against the British and keep our flag flying is beyond amazing.<br />
Over the years the flag has been a beacon of hope, an inspiration to achieve greatness and an encouragement to go on. It has meaning far beyond a piece of cloth.<br />

A date we all remember, at least those of us old enough to have witnessed it. Today I was driving to work and there is a bridge overpass that every year parks firetrucks with the ladder's raised high and fly a flag between them. Driving in to school today (just as I was doing 16 years ago at that time) it was very heartwarming and encouraging to see this display. I get goosebumps just talking about it.<br />
Shortly after that, the radio station I was listening to interrupted the song that was playing to have a moment of silence at the time the first plane hit the tower, and then prayed. What a good reminder that God is God in all things. It is important to remember.<br />
When I got to school, and as I drove, I saw flags at half staff. We must never forget the tragedy, nor the hero's that rose up.<br />
With all turmoil and tragedies going on it's good to see Americans having pride in our country. 9/11, tragic as it was, showed how Americans can come together to help each other. It's paramount we pass those traits onto the next generation.<br />
Sixteen years ago I was driving to school to drop off my daughter at school, listening to kid songs on the cassette player, oblivious at the time, about this huge tragedy. Same school but different building that I was driving to today. I learned of it shortly after when I stopped at a friend's house. I was in complete shock when I turned on the TV to see the tower collapsing. I could barely take my attention away from it all day, on TV or the radio. Back then I had a 1st grader and a preschooler. Now they are both adults. They grew up in a post 9/11 world. I hope the generations coming up learn a love and respect for this great country of America.<br />

As difficult as the circumstances are in Texas, Americans are coming out in droves to help those affected. To see how we care for each other gives me hope that America's roots are still strong.<br />
People try to pull politics into tragedies like this, but it has no place. We are just Americans helping each other in need. Government has a place, but for the most part it's the local people that do the most good. In times of trouble communities rally and it's a beautiful thing to see. No one wants those disasters to happen but when they do, Americans answer.<br />

It's not news that the world has gone crazy. I'm daily amazed, though, at the depth of crazy going on. There are two genders, one male one female, anything more or different than that is a problem that needs to be dealt with not encouraged. I'm tired of the trend to turn illness and fringe behavior into the norm. It's not. Satan takes what God made and twists it and perverts it to sin and sickness, and tries to get us all to say it's normal. What's good is bad and what's bad is good. Stop forcing us to share bathrooms, bake cakes or sanction what we don't believe in. We can't tell you what to do. Stop telling us what we must believe and accept.<br />

Our history does not need to be erased because someone is afraid it hurts their feelings or it talks about something other than a shining past. Stop tearing down statues. Who's the ultimate authority on what's offensive and what's not? Where does it stop? There are plenty of things out there I don't agree with but I still don't have the right to tear it down. If we don't remember the good AND the bad we are destined to repeat the bad. Seeing where we were and what we've become is a healthy thing. We can't change the past but we can learn from it. This country despite it's ups and downs is the greatest country there is and if you don't think so, Move. No one is making you stay.<br />

I get so frustrated when I see young people and even older ones who should know better claiming capitalism is bad, socialism/communism is good. To those that think that, we've utterly failed in educating them about history. Taking the power away from the people and giving it to the government is Never a good thing, and never works to better a society. They wouldn't be so eager if they really understood what loosing their freedoms would look like.<br />

Terrorism is bad. We need to stomp it out. We need to stop letting them in our country and we need to deal harshly with the ones already here.<br />
Islam is not a religion nor a religion of peace. It is a political ideology. Islam teaches death to infidels. Devoted muslims want you dead. Sure you may know muslims who are very nice people and want peace, maybe they don't adhere to all the teachings of their religion, good. But the ones who follow and believe are just biding their time with every intent to take over. Sharia law and the Constitution are incompatible and we cannot coexist or allow sharia in America.<br />

Even the weather is going crazy. The storms have increased in frequency and intensity. Birth pains anyone?<br />
<br />
Trump is not a racist. See what he does not what the media wants you to think. Stop blindly absorbing what the mainstream wants you to think. They lost and they can't accept it and they will lie twist and pervert the truth to try to get their way. They falsely accuse conservatives of doing exactly what they are doing. Things like racism, fascism, Nazi's, everythingPhobic, intolerance, blocking free speech. This is what they are. Which side is the one trying to squelch the speech of the other?<br />
<br />
There is no need to protest violently and threaten violence because someone has a different opinion or viewpoint than you. Suck it up buttercup. Stop being offended at everything. Move along. And don't be payed to protest, it's meaningless to do that and know nothing about why you are there.<br />

Yes there is discrimination in America and stupid people. There are also people of every race who are in very successful jobs who worked hard and made something of their lives.<br />

The media would have us believe everyone is fighting in the streets, hates each other and no one gets along. That may be the fringe that they are showing (or the paid protesters with an agenda to destroy us) but I surely don't think that's what is happening in main stream America.<br />
There is sin in the world so there will always be struggle and pain and crime. Without God we are not going to eradicate it, but it's time to be serious and stop letting evil overrun. Stand up and speak out for our country. I, for one, love America.<br />

Thank you! I am weary of hearing about climate change. It is nothing more that a liberal agenda to gain control and money. There is not science to back it up..real science. This treaty was entered into illegally anyway. Just because obama called it an Accord and bypassed congress doesn't mean it was ok to do. It's a treaty and should have gone through congress in the proper process. But either way it's a bad deal and bad for America.
