It's a rainy day. I have the day off and the house to myself. Perfect. I decided to pull out some DVD's that I like to watch but no one else in the house enjoys. It's no secret I love history so I have a lot of video related to that. Today I watched part of a 2 set about D-Day. It is all actual footage and a lot of voice over from soldiers of the day.It's interesting to see the actual men and women of the time, and more real than just reading about it. Some of the bonus features included how America was pulling together to help "our boys over there," as well as war bond commercials. It's nice to see how we American's banded together for a common cause. Sure things weren't perfect back during that time period, but we were definitely unified, and our Christian roots were much more evident across society. I hope we are headed back to that.
As I write this I have "The Little Rascals" playing, not the updated movie but the good old black and white originals. Makes me long for simpler times. A time of innocence, when communities were more bonded and connected than we are now. Sometimes I wish I had lived back in those days despite the hardships. But alas we are placed in the time we are in, by God, for a purpose. (and I do enjoy our modern conveniences that I wouldn't have had back then!) There have been such amazing advancements in the last 100 plus years, that I wonder what Spanky, Alfalfa and the gang would think if they saw where we are now!

Oy
It breaks my heart to see what's going on in America today. I have no fear because I know God is in control but it's hard to watch the utter chaos that is portrayed. Every deviant behavior is made to look normal and every moral and traditional belief is portrayed as deviant and extreme--something to be squashed out. The ignorance or blindness of people is incredible. I watched and interview clip of a news program and the host could not get his guest to answer a straight forward question. Does abortion kill a human? He would just go back to "well it's her choice it's her body-- if she doesn't want it etc." People can't admit simple truths if it won't advance the agenda they want.
People marching and rioting--yes rioting-- smashing windows, burning things, attacking people is not protesting. They march and don't even know why, but it's out of pure hate by some and just a job they are paid to do by others-- whose goal is to destroy America and American ideals.
America is such a unique country, I can't say that enough. She is exceptional in her beginning, different from any in the span of history. I hope she survives. I hope we can make a comeback, but I am certain that we the people will survive because God is in control.
The Bible tells us there will come a day when wrong is right and right is wrong. "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness gut denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." 2 Timothy 3: 1-5
A true spiritual battle is going on and don't doubt that Satan is grimacing at our resolve to fight him and that he's doing all he can to eradicate God from the world. Too bad for him we know he looses in the end!
